Calling all those in GovTech. There is a new LinkedIn Group you should know about and join!

The Data Center Optimization Initiative (DCOI) LinkedIn Group is primarily focused on the U.S. Federal Government Office of Management and Budget (OMB) mandate to increase efficiency at federal data centers.

Many of you already know about the March of 2016 announcement requiring all federal agencies to develop and report on strategies to:

  • Consolidate inefficient infrastructure
  • Optimize existing facilities
  • Achieve cost savings
  • Transition to more efficient infrastructures

You may also know that Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) is a major component of the DCOI program in helping federal IT and facilities personnel meet the mandated requirements.

This complex initiative has a lot of moving parts hence; there are a lot of questions, details and guidelines to follow and adhere to. The DCOI LinkedIn forum is where members can share information and hold open-ended discussions to support those seeking information on DCOI.  It can also be a good resource and social networking site for government data center operators to leverage, and remain informed about the DCOI guidelines and receive support in achieving the milestones — and ultimately meet all the DCOI mandate goals. The discussions can help gain a better understanding of the DCOI requirements and how to comply and benefit from the guidance provided by the OMB.

If you are in the government technology or IT sector, check out the DCOI LinkedIn Group and start sharing insight for the benefit of all those involved in meeting the DCOI mandate.

Looking forward to insightful discussions.
