FieldView Presents the Future of Data Center Infrastructure Management

CSO Defines Standards for Data Center Energy Usage at 7×24 Exchange Empire State Chapter Meeting

Edison, N.J. – October 3, 2011FieldView Solutions, a provider of industry-leading Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) software – and recent recipient of venture-led funding— today announced that David Schirmacher, Chief Strategy Officer for FieldView Solutions, has been invited to present at the upcoming The Data Center of the Future Series Part 1, hosted by 7×24 Exchange, Empire State Chapter Meeting. Schirmacher’s presentation, Energy: How to measure! How to save!, will provide insight on energy efficiency in data centers and will be conducted on Friday, October 14, 11:30AM – 4:30PM, New York State Nurses Association, 11 Cornell Road, Latham, NY.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reports that data centers consume as much as 20 times more energy per square foot than a typical office building.  In addition, the agency reports that the amount of energy consumed by data centers worldwide doubled between 2000 and 2005, and that the total electric bill to effectively operate a typical infrastructure worldwide in 2005 was $7.2 billion.

Schirmacher’s discussion will draw upon his years of experience helping some of the world’s largest data centers effectively control their energy consumption.  Schirmacher continues, “There is a proven, tremendous cost savings realized from effective data center energy management.  However, one of the largest hurdles to achieving these savings is a lack of visibility into the center’s energy consumption—you can’t manage what you can’t see. We are pleased to see 7×24 address this topic and excited to disseminate our knowledge on where and how to begin measuring a data center’s energy consumption.”

FieldView Solutions continues to be at the leading edge of DCIM technology and used by three of the world’s largest banks and nine of the Fortune 250 enterprise organizations. Data Center and Mission Critical professionals are invited to register for the 7×24 Exchange Empire State Chapter Meeting to learn more about energy efficiency and cloud deployment at data centers.
