Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) Poised for Explosive Growth

Leading Independent Research Firms Include nlyte Software in Evaluation of DCIM Market

MENLO PARK, CA, April 29, 2010 — According to nlyte Software, recent reports by three leading independent research firms – Gartner, Forrester Research, Inc. and The 451 Group – suggest that Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) promises to be a major, new high-growth technology category.

DCIM solutions help data center and facilities managers optimize physical capacity including power, cooling and space. However, according to a recent independent research report, “Data center infrastructure management is not well-known among enterprise architecture professionals — perhaps because it has been historically below the water line for IT.” “Put DCIM Into Your Automation Plans ,” Forrester Research, Inc., December, 2009.

In the report from Gartner, Inc., “DCIM: Going Beyond IT ”, released March 29, 2010, the analyst firm defines the importance of the new DCIM market and states that “DCIM tools and processes will become mainstream in data centers, growing from 1% penetration in 2010 to 60% in 2014.” The report goes onto say that operations and infrastructure managers must manage the entire data center infrastructure, and that “energy savings from well-managed data centers can reduce operating expenses by as much as 20%.”
